The United States of America is a safe haven for terrorists. Open borders and weak identification standards are creating conditions for terrorists to enter the country and operate with impunity until they are ready to strike. A national ID card will counter terrorism and secure the homeland while protecting individuals from identity theft, which is a win-win for everyone except the terrorists. The European Union has embraced biometrics and national ID cards and is leading the way in combating terrorism on their soil. The US requires many nations to implement biometric ID standards into their travel documents before allowing foreigners into the US.
