Opis

This book argues that  geopolitics has returned is here to stay as the world becomes more complex and unstable. It looks at the US, China and Russia's Great Powers relationships with an empire to keep, to build and to loose, and at the ambitions of second-tier regional powers, and at current and potential conflicts . After a brief hiatus that started with the fall of the Soviet Union, geopolitics is back at the table with a vengeance, affecting everyone and every activity everywhere. The new geopolitical paradigm will, for the next few decades, be dictated by the 'simple' truth that America has an empire that it wants to keep, Russia lost an empire that it wants to recover and China doesn't have an empire and wants one. But not only: in a world transitioning from unipolar to multipolar, instability will become the norm, compelling Great Powers to pick and choose chessboards to focus on, thus freeing assertive regional powers to act on their ambitions-adding yet another layer of instability. Understanding the new dynamics, the different chessboards, how they inter-connect and the key players is indispensable to understanding how the world around us is evolving. There is a gap in the market, a need for a book that enables the reader to understand in plain language the key geopolitical issues and players of our time, how the various chessboards inter-connect, what sort of new order the world is heading towards, while providing tools to analyse and understand geopolitical situations. I believe my book fills this gap due to its holistic, multi-dimensional, real-life approach. The reader embarks on a journey, a world tour of the key geopolitical issues of our time designed to bring clarity-with the help of historical, geographical and socio-political frames as well as case studies.
