Dans les écrits de l'apôtre Paul, le vocabulaire du corps est omniprésent : corps individuel marqué par l'écharde dans la chair, corps affecté ou non de la marque d'appartenance à un peuple particulier, corps souffrant, corps en attente de glorification, corps transporté aux limites de lui-même par l'expérience mystique indicible. De même, le pain et la communauté sont déclarés corps du Christ. Les modifications du corps se font, chez Paul, par sauts ou ruptures et non pas par évolution continue. Elles peuvent donc être pensées selon le principe de la métamorphose. C'est en fait l'ensemble du discours paulinien, dans la diversité de ses champs lexicaux, qui relève du principe de la métamorphose. La justification par la foi, par exemple, implique un changement radical du sujet qui trouve son identité dans le fait de s'en remettre à l'Autre. De la même manière, l'expression " vous êtes corps du Christ " implique qu'on sorte de ses propres limites pour se métamorphoser en corps de l'Autre. Sous ce biais, il n'y a plus lieu de reconduire les disputes entre les tenants de la justification par la foi et ceux de l'Église corps du Christ. Ces deux figures sémantiques expriment en effet la nécessité d'une métamorphose. C'est dans ces perspectives passionnantes que l'auteur revisite tous les grands dossiers de la pensée paulinienne. -- In the writings of the apostle Paul, the language of the body is omnipresent: the individual body marked by the thorn in the flesh, the body marked (or not) by a symbol signifying belonging to a specific people, the suffering body, the body awaiting glorification, the body transported to the limits of its own being by indescribable mystic experience. Similarly, bread and the community are declared to be the body of Christ. In Paul's writings, modifications of the body happen in sudden leaps or ruptures and not through gradual evolution. Consequently they can be thought in the same manner as a metamorphosis. All of Paul's writing, in its lexical richness, refers to the principle of metamorphosis. Justification through faith, for example, implies a radical change in subjects who find their identity only when they give themselves to the Other. In the same way, the expression 'you are the body of Christ' implies that we go beyond our own limits to metamorphose into the body of the Other. Seen from this point of view, the disputes between those who believe in justification by faith and those who subscribe to the Church body of Christ are no longer relevant. The two semantic figures express, in reality, the necessary metamorphosis. In this fervent prospect, the author re-explores all the great issues of Paul's thinking.
