For a long time, Zambia has grappled with high maternal mortality. One of the interventions the government initiated was the introduction of Safe Motherhoods Action Groups. Clearly, this book demonstrates that Antenatal care, birth preparedness, institutional delivery and postnatal care are important ingredients in safe motherhood. However, knowledge on these tenets is extremely low.
