Both the theological foundations and the shape of the celebration came under scrutiny. The first volume of "Sacrum Convivium. The celebration of the Eucharist in the Churches of the West in the 20th and early 21st centuries" documents the central texts and their performance. Comprehensive commentaries introduce the characteristics of the texts. The two volumes of "Sacrum Convivium" appear in the collection "Spicilegium Friburgenese" and continue the commentated edition of the Lord's Supper or Eucharist which began with "Prex Eucharistica" and "Coena Domini".
