In dentistry, zirconia has been indicated and used for making crowns, bridges, abutments and implant prosthesis infrastructures. As is well known, dental ceramics are often associated with brittle fractures, due to their low resistance to fracture, which has delayed the routine clinical use of all-ceramic prostheses. The introduction of stabilized zirconia has created a real possibility and promise for the application of ceramics in dental reconstructions.
