Book synopsis

Winds of Eden is the long awaited third book and finale of the Shadows of the Trail Trilogy. A small band of Paleoindians fight to survive in a violent and unpredictable world. The late Pleistocene is a time of dramatic climatic change, mammal extinctions and shifting alliances among those humans attempting to survive. The Winds of Eden continues the story of the Folsom People, a mystical group of prehistoric hunters and gatherers, who are as much a part of the landscape as the animals they hunt and who hunt them. Join them on their emotional journey as they face natural disasters, predatory animals, and hostile tribes of Paleoindians. The seeds for Winds of Eden sprouted on a northern Colorado ranch in the summer of 2010 when the author discovered an Ice Age stone tool made from a red and gray striped rock originating from a prehistoric rock quarry in Texas. How did this stone tool, made from a rock from Texas, end up in a prehistoric campsite in northern Colorado? Who made this stone tool? What was he or she like? What happened on the journey from Texas to northern Colorado? Since it was impossible to ask these questions to the Paleoindian who made the stone tool, the author wrote his own version of this remarkable journey. ~ John Bradford Branney ~ Born and raised in Wyoming, John Branney has been searching for evidence of prehistoric man for most of his life. He has assembled a collection of several thousand prehistoric artifacts dating back to around 13,000 years ago. John Branney has a B.S. degree in geology from the University of Wyoming and a M.B.A. in finance from the University of Colorado. The author lives in Texas and Colorado with his wife Theresa.
