Book synopsis

Successful endodontic treatment is based on the classical triad of diagnosis, biomechanical (includes cleaning and shaping of the root canals) preparation and obturation. Cleaning and shaping of the root canal is a critical aspect of endodontic treatment because it influences the outcome of the subsequent phases of canal irrigation, filling and the success of treatment itself. It includes removing all pulp tissue, bacteria and necrotic debris from the root canal and shaping the root canal to achieve a uniformly tapered funnel shape, increasing in diameter from the end point to orifice.1,2 This shape provides enough space for proper instrumentation and irrigants that are important to complete the canal cleaning and allows placement of an effective root filling.Successful endodontic treatment is based on the classical triad of diagnosis, biomechanical (includes cleaning and shaping of the root canals) preparation and obturation.
