Brucellosis is a zoonotic disease of worldwide distribution and is associated with serious consequences for public health, long term treatments, slow recovery and serious sequelae in the musculoskeletal and nervous system in some cases. Several variables are associated with the acquisition of human brucellosis such as consumption of unpasteurized milk and dairy products, exposure to infected domestic animals, herding and being in a family that had brucellosis index case. Despite its control in many countries, human brucellosis still remains a public health problem in other regions. This book explored various risk factors associated with brucellosis acquisition. Most of these variables are modifiable, and efforts should be focused on public health education regarding the disease and its risk factors, improvements in recognition and notification systems and active cooperation between health and veterinary ministries to reduce the incidence of the disease.
