Poverty in third world is multidimensional. One of its major components is that of shortage of food. This book is believed to give opportunity to see the magnitude and causes of the problem of food insecurity in developing countries in general and Alamata Woreda of Southern Tigray, Ethiopia in particular. It tries to assess the various determinant factors that influence achievement of food security at household level. The book also gives an insight to the different forms of coping mechanisms that households revert to during food crisis. The different strategies and efforts by government and non-governmental organizations to overcome the problem of food shortage in the study area are also discussed.
