Book synopsis

This work describes the development of a system model§of a power management system for hybrid-electric§vehicles. An extensive survey about hybrid-electric§vehicles in general and their differences to common§vehicles is given. In addition, advantages of§model-based development are outlined and several§model-based approaches regarding power management in§automotive systems are presented and evaluated. §The system model is modeled as§a multi-level heterogeneous closed-loop, which§contains a high level controller and a low level§controlled system. The controller corresponds to§the Electronic Control Unit, which is normally used§for power management. The controlled system§constitutes the vehicle electrical system of a§hybrid-electric vehicle. The heterogeneous system§property facilitates a high-level description of the§controller as a state chart by means of MATLAB s§Stateflow toolbox, whereas the controlled system§is completely modeled with the hardware description§language VHDL-AMS on lower level with high§accuracy. The simulation of the heterogeneous§structure is carried out by a cosimulation with§the tool SyAD. §Finally, the cosimulation results are§analyzed precisely.
