This book details the development of Mai Masri's work in her many documentary films and her partnership with her late husband, the Lebanese filmmaker Jean Chamoun since the 1980s up to her multi award-winning feature film 3,000 Nights in 2015. Author Victoria Brittain paints a portrait of Masri herself, the very international Palestinian family life she grew up in, and the artistic/political community in Lebanon which has surrounded her. Taking an observational approach, as if it were a prose documentary, Brittain includes discussions with many of Masri's key long-term colleagues and participants in her films as sources to shed light upon Masri's work and person. On the whole, Brittain offers a unique lens into Masri's process to highlight Masri's role as one of the central figures in Palestinian film on the global stage.
