This book explores how two cultures (American andTurkish) process new and difficult informationlooking for similarities and differences betweenthese groups. The purpose of this study is toinvestigate the relationship between science majorstudents learning styles and their culture. Dunnand Dunn Learning Style Model which is based oncognitive-style and brain-lateralization theorieshas been utilized in this research study. BuildingExcellence and a subscale of self consciousnesssurveys are used as instruments to answer questionslike, -What are the differences in learning stylesbetween Turkish and American undergraduate andgraduate students?- What is the relationship betweensocial anxiety and learning style preferences ofstudents? The findings have both theoretical andpractical implications for effective teaching inmulticultural classrooms and in order to provideequal opportunities to all students.This book will be useful for faculty members,teaching assistants, and teacher educators toincrease the success of the students in classrooms.
