Dieses Buch folgt konsequent der These, dass Semantik aus alltagssprachlichen Fähigkeiten der Bedeutungsexplikation in Kommunikationssituationen erwachse, so dass eine echte semantisch-pragmatische Schnittstelle eher als ein veranschaulichendes wissenschaftliches Konstrukt erscheint. Vor allem stehen Kommunikationssituationen wie Dialog und andere, in denen sprachliche Zeichen ihre Bedeutung in Abhängigkeit von sozialen Parametern annehmen. Damit lässt sich Intentionalität als interaktional begreifen und nicht zuerst als Bewusstseinsbegriff oder Zielvorstellung. Intentionalität wird auf diese Weise zum Dreh- und Angelpunkt semantisch-pragmatischer Analyse.
