On the way Lanark would be passed, and as it was the custom of the Saint, in going forth to other places, to erect churches, dedicate them when erected, and ordain priests and clerics, it seems admissible to suppose that on this journey the church of Lanark was founded by Kentigern, an inference which is strengthened by the fact that, in after times, the edifice was dedicated to his memory.
