Book synopsis

With rising population, industrialization and environmental pollution, availability of potable water is fast shrinking. Thus, it is necessary to focus on purification of available water. There are number of technologies available to purify water - distillation of water using solar still is one of them. It is an attractive option because of its low cost and low energy and skill requirement. The main aim of study was to develop a CFD model of a Simple Solar Still and use it to simulate the behaviour of a Solar Still. The CFD model has been developed for a Simple Solar Still using all the three phases present in the solar still, i.e. air, liquid water and water vapours. The CFD simulation has been carried out for unsteady system using this model.
