Alexander von Aphrodisias war der bedeutendste Kommentator der aristotelischen Werke der Antike. Seine Methode galt für alle Nachfolger als maßgeblich und trug ihm den Spitznamen "der Exeget" und "der zweite Aristoteles" ein. Der vorliegende Band enthält den von ihm verfassten ersten der drei überlieferten griechischen Kommentare zur Meteorologie des Aristoteles (es folgten Olympiodoros der Jüngere und Johannes Philoponos), dessen Einfluss über die mittelalterliche Philosophie (Thomas von Aquin) bis hin zur Renaissance (Alexander Piccolomineus) reicht. Von besonderem Interesse ist dabei die umstrittene Interpretation des Bruches im aristotelischen Originaltext zwischen den Büchern I-III und IV.
