Sam Steele, Steele by name and steel by nature, a Detective Sergeant in the Bloomsbury Police Force, aged 30 years. Before he joined the Police, he was a Captain in the Army, where he met some choice fellows. One was called Captain Theodore Drake, good in the Battalion but he went 'strange' upon leaving, a criminal that is, a really good one.
