Book synopsis

Mimosa green energy initiative was conceptualized following the observed phenomenon monitored on live Mimosa plant weed. It has physical features characterized by its ability to close the leaves at night or when touched, and open same in daylight. Mimosa pudica is a medicinal plant of African origin. It is commonly called Mimosa or sensitive plant. This activity encouraged the investigation to ascertain the substance responsible for the impulse. Laboratory procedures identified the substance as black silicon. This compound was used to make solar cells that were used to construct the Mimosa solar panel which produced electricity on exposure to daylight. That is reminiscence of what happens in the live plant. The electrical energy is renewable in the cells after exhaustion. The device is stable and affordable. The process, however, is green because water is used in the extraction of the black silicon which has semi-conductor properties. It has no greenhouse gas emission and now accepted as green energy source. Furthermore, the panel is assembled at a very minimal cost when compared to other forms of photovoltaic cell constructions. This is the hallmark of the innovation.
