During the 1970s two important projects in the field of bilingual education were mounted in Wales: the Schools Council Bilingual Education Projects in Primary and Secondary Schools, respectively. These two projects attracted the attention of educationists in various parts of the world where bilingual education is seen as the solution to a variety of political or social problems.
