In diesem 1813 veröffentlichten Band erschien erstmals eine Auswahl von Erbauungsreden, die Bolzano als Inhaber der Lehrkanzel für katholische Religionslehre an der Prager Universität bis dahin gehalten hatte. Bolzano vertrat in diesen Reden pazifistische und sozialistische Ideen und verlangte eine humane Verfassung, welche die grundlegenden Menschenrechte garantiert. Dies führte im Wintersemester 1819/20 zu seiner fristlosen Entlassung. 1828 wurde diese Ausgabe der Erbauungsreden auf den Index der verbotenen Bücher gesetzt.
