Descriptions made on many languages, nowadays, are contributing to the development of linguistic theories. In light of this, descriptions of Ethiopian languages, as Ethiopia is one of those multilingual countries of the world, can definitely make its share. However, there are inadequate linguistic works for many languages of the country especially on Omotic languages (the last branch of Afroasiatic language phylum). Thus, Dauro (an Omotic language spoken in the country) is comparatively one of those Omotic languages spoken in the southwestern part that gets very little attention from linguists. Consequently,in this work, the intention is to give some imperative information about Dauro people and their language. In fact, the major concern of the work is to give some aspects of the phonological description of the language. However, it provides an overview of the historical, geographical and socio- linguistic backgrounds of the people as well. Hence, the work may expectantly serve as a reference for several researchers to carry out further linguistic, anthropological or any other works on Dauro in particular and on Omotic speaking societies in general.
