Idiots and Demons is novel about a British colony, Kassku, struggling for independence. The two main characters of the story are Comrade Russbhakt (an Indian man) and Comrade Bullhorn (an African man). The two men formed a socialist party to fight the British for independence, but they ended up fighting each other, dividing the colony into two distinct enclaves of Indian and African voters. To gain their own political ends, they invoked the idiots and demons of their supporters psyche, suppressing their unconscious gods. Thus, they created racial hatred, hostilities and violence. Freedom from British rule left them in chaos, corruption, and bloodshed.
